Kent University Blockchain Society
Student Association Profile
Club Type: Blockchain
Club Size: 70+
Student Backgrounds: Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, among others
The Kent Blockchain Society was founded in order to create an ecosystem wherein passionate students and professionals alike can come together to nurture innovation and sustain the local blockchain community. When bitcoin began appearing in headlines across the world, seeing how little the mainstream audience knew about what the underlying technology meant or how it worked was perplexing.
In a sense, one of our biggest functions is ensuring that as many people are properly informed, particularly at such a unique point in history when so much funding is coming from the public base rather than institutional players.
Activities & Interests
We aim to meet once a week with different events being organized by our committee members. These events range from presentations open to the public on cryptocurrencies, to Trivia nights, and weekly market recaps.
CryptoTalent Ambassador: Shadi Youssef Nassar
My name is Shadi Youssef Nassar and I am currently completing a Business and
Economics undergraduate degree at the University of Kent. I began my journey into
the blockchain community in early 2016 when I began researching digital banking and the FinTech space.
I believe that blockchain and its ability to truly decentralize and facilitate peer-to-peer transactions can shape our society for generations to come. I believe the blockchain’s innately unbiased and trustless nature creates countless innovative and cost-effective avenues for people in developing economies to integrate more efficiently with the financial sector across a wide range of sectors.
